概要 / Summary

1980年、佐賀市でわずか14機の熱気球が参加して始まったバルーンフェスタは、1989年アジアで初めての世界選手権誘致に成功し、以来毎年国際大会や日本選手権を開催してまいりました。今や海外のパイロットを含め参加する熱気球は100機以上、来場者数80万人を超える日本を代表する一大イベントになりました。
1997年・2016年にも世界選手権を開催し、そのいずれもが120万人を超える観客動員と、地域のボランティアが活躍する大会運営は関係者からも高い評価をいただいています。
バルーン愛は、地域の皆さまにも浸透し、世代を紡ぐ絆となっています。
今年（2025年）は、10月30日（木）〜11月3日（月・祝）の5日間、佐賀市嘉瀬川河川敷をメイン会場として開催されます。

The Balloon Festival, which began in Saga City in 1980 with just 14 hot air balloons participating, successfully hosted the first World Championships in Asia in 1989. Since then, it has held international competitions and the Japan Championships annually. It has now grown into one of Japan's premier events, attracting over 100 balloons, including those piloted by international participants, and welcoming more than 800,000 visitors.
It also hosted the World Championships in 1997 and 2016, each drawing over 1.2 million spectators. The event's operation, supported by local volunteers, has earned high praise from all involved.
The love for balloons has permeated the local community, becoming a bond that connects generations.
This year (2025), the festival will be held for five days from Thursday, October 30th to Monday, November 3rd (a national holiday), with the main venue at the Kase River floodplain in Saga City.

・佐賀の、田畑や川の流れる実に日本らしい景観のなかで、無数の気球が空に舞う姿がファンタスティック！
・海外でもこれ程までに様々な気球が集まるコンペティションはなかなか無い。日本へ旅する目的のひとつにラインナップしたい。

・Amidst Saga's quintessentially Japanese landscape of rice paddies and flowing rivers, countless balloons dancing in the sky is truly fantastic!
